Hill Country Secrets

To the Editor:
We have wintered in Kerrville for the past two years, love it there, and have decided to make Kerrville our permanent home. We will move in to our new home on Feb 15, 2000. Over the past few months, we have busily selected carpet, vinyl, ceiling fans, light fixtures, window covering, appliances and furniture.

Having moved from Dallas, we were accustomed to receiving impersonal, sometimes even inhumane, treatment from store owners, salesclerks, etc. The reason for my letter is to applaud the many individuals who have assisted us in these difficult, stressful times. We are fortunate to have selected the finest custom-home builders in Kerrville, Dick and Meredith Hesse. The quality and attention to detail in the home is impeccable. However, just as important, is the fact that the Hesses are such delightful people and we have found two lovely new friends and new neighbors!

We were sent to Brinks Flooring where David and Elaine treated us like old pals who had stopped by for coffee. They treated our floor selections as if they were purchasing for their own home-wonderful folks. Next stop was Sunrise Lighting where Francis put her own personal efforts into helping us make the right decisions.

Every new home needs window coverings and new furniture, and our luck in finding wonderful people who genuinely cared about assisting us, continued. I spent hours working with Robert and Carol from Hesters Window Coverings, selecting new blinds, draperies and custom bedding. They sensed my stress level at having to make so many choices and were quick to eliminate my concerns by their professionalism and years of knowledge and experience in advising me what works and what does not.

Last, but certainly not least, Rachel Johnston and Marilyn with Moores Furniture were superb! These gals took me under their wings, came out to the house and measured rooms, and made awesome recommendations as to my new furniture purchases. There has not been a day pass within the past month that I haven't stopped by Moores to look at lamps, accessories, the "special find," etc. I have made two new lifetime friends in these girls.

I now know why people come from all aver the Hill Country to shop in Kerrville - such personal treatment.

We oftentimes see so many negative comments in these editorials so I felt it my personal responsibility to say "thank you" to Kerrville for making us feel so welcome. If other Kerrville establishments demonstrate these same qualities as we have found in the wonderful people mentioned above, we can't wait to become active in the community of Kerrville. You are truly blessed to these fine folks your own!
